We’re guessing you’re familiar with the good old American drip coffee machine. Mr. Coffee? Yep, that’s the one.
It can be tricky getting great coffee out of a drip machine because you usually can’t control all the variables. But fear not! You can control a number of the key ones (coffee freshness, dose, water quality, and sometimes brew time) and with a little experimentation, you can get a great cuppa.
Here are the basics:
- Measure out fresh-ground coffee. 2 tablespoons coffee per 6oz of water.
- Measure water with pot and add to machine. Typical cup marks on home brewers are 6oz.
- Push start. Sometimes there are special settings, like for “3-5 cups.” You can experiment with these settings to see if they change the brew time and taste.
